We regard business as vitally important to be included in our assessment of Green Economics. Today much of economics is subsumed in business schools as if economics is part of business.
In fact we believe no business can exist without the natural world which supports it, the biosphere of other species who often provide hidden inputs and people the world over including women, and minorities.
We therefore think there needs to be a complete reassessment of business and its role and it should provide for people's needs and its contribution to the economy should be assessed in different ways.
We work with business at the highest level having provided televised speeches in Geneva for the World Council of Business and Sustainable Development and also working on Corporate Social Responsibility.
We are also running a conference on the Greening of Business at Oxford University on 18th July 2008 and all are most welcome- please pre book. This will explore many aspects of greening business including especially the all important green procurement and greening of supply chains and freight.
. Our Journal, the International Journal of Green Economics features business as one of its main areas and we are always pleased to receive articles for the journal- its own website is www.inderscience.com/ijge
We also attended the European Business Summitt in Brussels this year and are working with many of the top firms and banks and commissioners, who attended there to create change.
We have a special biodiversity group focused on economic instruments for biodiversity to end the current mass extinction which is actually the worst since the dinosaurs, ( we dont want to be part of a dinosaur species) and we believe habitat destruction is a crucial part of the current faulty mix, we are working with top specialist zooologists and large mammal specialists and will be offering some special low impact safaris. Please email for details.
We are working with Gower Management Books to provide two series of business books on green economics, green globalisation and sustainable development.
If you would like more details or to write one of the books please email us greeneconomicsinstitute@yahoo.com
