News from the Green Economics Institute February 2008

The Green Economics Institute has been really active lately - we have written for Harvard University Economists and have just been commissioned to write two series for Gower Publishing.One of the series will be on Greening International Production and the Supply Chain and the other will be on Green Sustainability Generally and reworking the meaning of Green growth and green globalisation in particular so that it benefits everyone and the planet and other species and enhances local supply and production and diversity. If you are interested in publishing with the Institute please let us know. Our academic journal International Journal of Green Economics is now in its 5th issue and we are currently compiling issues 6 and 7

Our Third Annual Green Economics Conference is at Oxford University at Mansfield College July 17th 18th 19th 2008 all are welcome - this is a conference for anyone interested in Green Economics and will have a wide range of speakers from round the world.It is expanded from previous years and will feature typical Oxford seminar rooms and halls for presentations.

We are also active in teaching and training -Miriam Kennet the Institute Director is currently teaching green and environmental economics at Birkbeck College London University and aslo we are developing a Masters Course in Green Economics, if you are interested in this please send us your details so that as soon as its finalised we can register you for this.

We have also been shortlisted for the Green Gown awards for excellence in environmental teaching for our innnovative training courses. We will be running one this year spanning the border between east and west - Poland and Germany - and another one in Warswaw Poland itself and we hope to run one in the UK please email for details.

At Cambridge we will be speaking about the state of the art in Green Economics in July

We are also setting up a branch in Poland at the moment.

We are also producing some policy documents on various subjects including basic income and womens poverty and taxation etc. we are especially active in reworking macro economics and the economics of biodiversity. If you would like further information please contact us.

We are playing a leading role in the Schumacher Economics Network, at Schumacher College

We expect to be running an event in Brazil meeting our teams in the Americas. Please email for details

We will be speaking in the French Senate in June this year

and in New Dehli we are running a stream of green economics sessions -if you would like to participate - especially if you are from India or surrounding areas please email us as soon as possible

We have our main annual conference at Oxford University this July and already have lots of people booked in from all over the world -which is an exciting feature of our global network which is now in 37 countries.

The latest additions to our activities are Etheopia and Kuwait
