Clare Lunn (née Smith)

Clare has a B.Sc. from Pennsylvania State University in the USA, in Environmental Science and Engineering, one year of which was spent studying Environmental Policy and Planning at Australian National University in Canberra, where Clare became involved with the issues of the indigenous Australian Aboriginal population. After this experience, Clare completed an M.Sc. in Environmental Change and Management from the University of Oxford, UK.

For her Oxford master's dissertation research, Clare lived with the Pueblo of Zuni Indian tribe in New Mexico, developing and revitalizing sustainable land management strategies for reservation drylands with Zuni tribal members, in particular promoting the role of Zuni women.

After her Zuni experience, Clare worked a few years as an environmental engineer for oil companies, chemical industries, and the UK rail network, examining issues related to contaminated land, the fate and transport of contaminants and the subsequent human exposure and impact on human health.

Recently, Clare returned to academia and completed an M.Sc. in Environmental Health, Science and Engineering from the Harvard University School of Public Health in Boston, USA.

She is currently working on a book at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on technology and policy, examining the role of law, trade, policy, and the impacts on sustainable development and the environment.

Clare is a dual national citizen of the UK and the USA, and an avid proponent of US politics progressing in a far more environmentally-minded manner.
