Membership Information for Joining US Branch

Welcome to the Green Economics Institute

As the Institute is growing, the membership procedures are currently being agreed by the governing body, all new members will be in the category of Associate Member initially, and will be transferred to the relevant level as soon as the procedures have been agreed. Paid Memberships will entitle the member to receive the Newsletter and other information about US and other international GEI .

We will offer U.S. membership at various levels as follows:

Student Membership @ $15 per year

(For full-time students on production of a current student ID. This membership will be transferred to full Membership at the end of full-time education.)

Associate Membership @ $50 per year

(This level of membership will not in future require any experience or knowledge of the subject.)

Accredited Membership of the Institute of Green Economics @ $50 per year

(This award will permit use of the Institute letters after your name." M.GEI.") This award will be offered only after agreement by the Institute's governing bodies in accordance with its procedures. Details of this aspect of membership will be available shortly. It is likely that this level of membership will be for those who have an appropriate qualification such as a relevant degree, combined with relevant experience over a set period of years, or have written in the field or have published a number of books/articles. We are developing a GEI course which will count towards this qualification. If you would like to be considered for this level, please indicate this on your membership application form.

Fellowship @ $150 per year

(This award will permit use of the Institute letters after your name "F.GEI.") This level of award will be granted only after agreement by the Institute's governing bodies in accordance with its procedures. Details of this will be available shortly. This level of membership will require evidence of a substantial contribution to the field of Green Economics and will probably involve a high degree of academic attainment - such as a Masters or Doctorate Degree in a relevant field, and/or publication of a book, articles in a journal or substantial influential public speaking, campaigning or influence at various government levels and experience over a longer set period of years in the field. If you would like to be considered for this level, please indicate this on your membership application form.

Honorary Fellowship @ $150 per year

(This award will permit use of the Institute letters after your name "Hon. FGEI".) This level of award will be granted only after agreement by the Institute's governing bodies in accordance with its procedures. Details of this will be available shortly. This level of membership will require a substantial contribution to the field of Green Economics and will probably involve a high degree of academic attainment, such as a Masters Degree or Doctorate in a relevant field, publication of a book in the field, articles in a journal, influential public speaking, campaigning or influence at government, non-profit, or private sector levels. In addition, an Honorary member will have extensive experience in the field and/or contributed to new innovations in the field of Green Economics. This Fellowship will be offered after agreement by the awarding bodies of the Institute, as an award. If you would like to be considered for this level or would like to recommend someone, please indicate this on your membership application form.

Consultants Membership, including entry onto a consulting register @ $200 per year.

(This membership will entitle consultants to enter a register of people qualified to consult.) There will be one register for those wishing to simply advertise with the Institute and one register for those wishing to consult on behalf of the Institute. All such work will be done under agreed contractual terms.
