Women's economics

The work of the Institute is particularly informed by the findings of womens economics perspective research and the idea of hearing other voices and perspectives not just homo economicus. It advocates choice for women in their work and also emphasises the pivotal role of women in upholding the global economy and campaigns for women and people with other voices not always heard to have their fair share of the rewards of their own work and their needs met. This also includes the rights of nature, the planet and the biosphere to be included, and not just those with legal standing and loud voices or the powerful. The Institute's work is also informed by the work of Maria Mies and her thesis of patriarchy and accumulation, and Maralyn Waring on if women counted and Ghiligan hearing other voices, and Bente Madera for the womens economics group.
